Femina Therapy
"Sex can be a small part of someone's life when it goes right, and a big part when it goes wrong."

I'm Lucy Stuart, a sex and relationship therapist. With over a decade of experience as a Senior Specialist Psychosexual therapist in female sexual pain and penetration difficulties for the NHS, I'm passionate about empowering women and fostering open conversations around intimacy. My approach is compassionate and insightful, and I address a wide range of psychosexual concerns. My extensive experience within the NHS has given me a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding female sexual health, which allows me to provide tailored and effective therapeutic support. I'm committed to helping individuals and couples navigate challenges, enhance their sexual well-being, and cultivate fulfilling intimate lives. In addition, I have significant experience working with male sexual dysfunction and the LGBTQ+ community.

Approach and Modalities
My therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to each individual's unique needs. Drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy, I help clients explore attachment patterns and deepen emotional connection alone or with a partner. Systemic Therapy provides a framework for understanding relationship dynamics, while EMDR addresses the impact of trauma. I also incorporate Transactional Analysis (TA) for insight into communication and ego states. My practice is further informed by the bio-psycho-social model, considering the interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors in sexual well-being.

Plaudits
Lucy is one of those rare people who makes you feel completely at ease from the very beginning. She is everything I hoped to find in a therapist - kind, patient, insightful, and wonderfully down to earth. She brings a warmth to our sessions and makes me feel safe and comfortable sharing what’s on my mind. Each session teaches me something - about who I am, who I’ve been, and who I am becoming. I feel so lucky to be on this journey with her, I only wish I’d found her sooner.
(Female 20's)
"Therapy doesn't feel like therapy with Lucy. It feels like a conversation and pretty quickly afterwards, I am able to make sense of my feelings and behaviors in a different light. Lucy was quick to make some simple observations, but they have transformed my confidence and how I deal with anxiety."
(Female 40's)
"After time spent living apart for work reasons, a period of serious ill health resulting in permanent physical changes, and the impacts of mid-life, my partner and I needed help reconstructing our ability to be intimate with one another. Lucy's warmth, humour and intuitive understanding were an excellent conduit, enabling us to step outside our own narratives and really listen to one another. We are both extremely grateful for her time and energy. Thank you!"
(Couple 50's)
"I had a patched together marriage after my husbands affair and unwanted child with a work colleague, nursed my mother through dementia and then my husband was diagnoseed with alzheimers. At the same time i had a cancer scare and was caring for a year for my soul mate youngest son who tragically died of cancer. I was in a desperate turmoil.
I had massive support from family and friends. But it was not enough to keep me together and i knew i needed experienced counselling.
From the initial trial conversation on the phone i sensed Lucy had all the skills and approach that would be able to support me. She has a lovely kind voice, super sense of humour, has a strong sense of womanhood and all it entails - and has an uncanny way of being able to ask the perfect question just at the right moment. Lucy also has a very good memory and obviously assessed our sessions in depth - she made wonderful links over the months of the many points unearthed in our sessions. But above all she kept reminding me of my strength and what i had already coped with. I looked forward to our sessions not just to have my thought processes untangled but to have my ego and confidence massaged!
My husband died two months ago. It was supremely helpful to be able to talk openly and honestly with someone who knew me and our history.
I was extremely fortunate to have had the chance to work through and unwind the morass of experiences with Lucy. I would not be where i am now without her experienced, wise and caring support. I am calmer, stronger and confident with the choices i made.
Thank you Lucy."
